In Honor of Hunter Wood August 2000 - September 20, 2013

Hunter2 Hunter2

We said our last good byes to Hunter on Friday September 20, 2013. Hunter came to our family as a foster dog 12 years ago. He had been living in the bushes in the snow at a apartment complex, he was only 4 months. We got a call on the dog line about him, and a volunteer went to rescue him. This cute little puppy was scared and very shy.

I am what you call a foster failure, Hunter became a part of our family. Hunter was very loved, and he had 2 doggie brothers and a doggie sister, and a cat. Hunter didnít always like other dogs but he did adjust after awhile, he was very protective of his mama.

In the past few years Hunter developed severe arthritis in his front legs and shoulders. He was on 3 different pain pills a day, but he got around pretty good. He loved going outside and laying in the grass in the sun shine. We have a lot of steps in our house, He did pretty good going down the steps, but struggled to get up them and as bad as he felt he never wanted any help.

A month ago he went to the vet for a check up and because of the pain meds. The vet was worried that Hunter would go into Kidney failure because of the pain meds he was taking, so I had to start giving him fluids every day or every other day, he got to the point he hated being stuck but he was a trooper and let me do it anyway. Hunter had gotten to the point he was tired and he quit eating and it was really hard for him to get up and down.

I realized it was time to let him be free of pain and let him go to the Rainbow Bridge. He will be missed very much, and we will always love him and remember the days when he was Healthy and Happy. But my devoted and dedicated Hunter is now pain free and resting,

We will never forget you my sweet boy Hunter.

A Bridge Called Love

It takes us back to brighter years,
to happier sunlit days
and to precious moments
that will be with us always.
And these fond recollections
are treasured in the heart
to bring us always close to those
from whom we had to part.
There is a bridge of memories
from earth to Heaven above...
It keeps our dear ones near us
It's the bridge that we call love
