Donations

AARF appreciates donations to support our continued efforts to save animals' lives. Money donations can be made online or mailed directly to:

Our dogs need several different items to help make their lives more pleasant while they are in our care. Please consider donating gently used or new items for our dogs. We have had children use their birthday parties to receive donations for our dogs rather than birthday gifts. You can bring the items to one of our

or contact us.

AARF is always looking for new volunteers! We need people who are willing to help both directly with animals and with behind the scenes kind of work. We are in desperate need of more safehouses with the puppy season almost upon us. Find out more about our volunteer opportunities or visit one of pet adoption stands.

AARF Membership

In addition to volunteering, AARF welcomes new members. Membership dues are $15.00 and allow a more active role in AARF. Members are encouraged to attend monthly meetings. Read more about becoming a member or fill out our membership form!

Adopt or Foster a Dog

AARF hopes to find a home for every animal they can. Maybe there is a perfect dog out there for you. Find out more about our adoption process. In addition, AARF needs foster homes for all our dogs awaiting adoption. See some of them on the right. Find out if fostering an AARF dog is right for you!

Estate Planning

A bequest to Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation through your Will or Trust helps ensure that we can continue to carry out our mission of helping homeless and abused animals receive the care they need.

By remembering Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation in your estate planning, you can leave a legacy that will benefit future generations of animals and help provide for our future work. The federal government encourages these gifts or bequests, b y allowing an unlimited estate tax charitable deduction.

There are various methods for making such a bequest.

  • A specific bequest allows you to leave a specified gift in the form of a cash distribution. To make such a bequest use the following language: I give, devise and bequeath to Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 15262,Richmond, Va 23227 the sum of (insert amount) to be used for its general purposes.
  • A residuary bequest allows you to leave a "remainder" of a percentage of your estate to Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation To make a residuary use the following language: "I give, devise and bequeath to Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 15262,Richmond, Va 23227 all (insert percentage amount) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, to be used for its general purposes."
  • A contingency bequest allows you to make a gift contingent on certain circumstances. To make a contingency bequest use the following language: "If any of the above-named beneficiaries should predecease me, I hereby bequeath his or her share to Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 15262,Richmond, Va 23227 to be used for its general purposes."
  • If you already have a Will, you can use the suggested wording to write a codicil (an addendum) that names Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation a beneficiary of your estate.
